Drink your Water!

“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.” — Loren Eiseley

Some of you will never hear it enough, you have to drink more water! For the rest of you, good job, but make sure you’re drinking enough

Dehydration can be dangerous!

How much is enough?

Science recommends as an adequate daily fluid intake:

  • for Women: about 11.5 cups or 2.7 liters
  • for Men: about 15.5 cups or 3.7 liters.

Yes, drinking water to stay hydrated, but did you know how much your life can improve by drinking more and enough water?

When hydrated your Brain functions better

How? Your brain is about more than 75% water. When your brain is having a full reserve of water to function, you will be able to think faster, you will be more focused, and will experience full clarity and creativity

Drinking water truly affects your brain.

Research shows that as little as 1% dehydration negatively affects your mood, attention, and memory. Water has also an essential role in delivering nutrients to the brain, and removing toxins.

Helps you with Weight Loss

First of all water has zero calories, but also it can increase your metabolism (amount of calories you burn while resting) and quench your thirst. Alcohol and sugary drinks have a high amount of calories and also make you more thirsty which can lead to dehydration.

It is also recommended to drink a good amount of water before eating, as it regulates your appetite and reduces it, throughout the day it helps you consume fewer calories in general.

Helps you maintain physical performance

Water helps you improve your physical activity and performance.

Drinking water helps you improve your performance. Water regulates body temperature. If you don’t drink enough water, you risk a change in body temperature, increased fatigue, reduced motivation, and working out feeling more difficult.

Helps you have a healthier and more beautiful skin

This is one of the benefits that you will notice right away after just a few days.

Drinking water gives you a more beautiful skin, and helps fight wrinkles.

Your skin looks better, more fresh, healthier, and radiant. It also has an anti-aging effect,  eliminating all the toxins bad for your skin, and a more hydrated skin is less prone to wrinkles. Dehydration makes your skin more vulnerable to skin disorders and wrinkles in general.

Prevents kidney stones and damage

Dehydration increases your risk of having kidney stones. Kidneys regulate fluids in the body, so drinking more water causes more fluid to go through the kidneys, and break up minerals buildup that can cause kidney stones.

Reduces chances of a hangover

Dehydration is one of the main cause of hangovers, caused by sugary cocktails and alcohol. Drinking a lot of water after a party, or even in between your drinks, will reduce your chances and severity of next morning bad symptoms.

Mhm….

Personally, I am always drinking water, I love it and rarely drink anything else honestly! At the beginning when you are not used to it, you have to remember and kind of force yourself. Starting slowly is a beginning, like having a bottle full of water every morning on your desk, in front of you so you can see it and remember, or in your bag, and set a goal of finishing it by the end of the day.

You easily get used to it believe me, and then you will constantly need your water!

To make sure I drink enough during the day, I have big bottles of water (of 1 or 1.5 liter), and I make sure I drink at least 2 of them by the end of the day, and it’s really the minimum acceptable.

What about you, are you drinking enough water?

  1. I though I was until I read your post. Changing habits now!
One thing that I read somewhere and I I do and it feels good is 2 big cups of water when you wake up, right away!

  2. I know now that I am an even worse drinker than I thought I was. Definitely just downed a big glass of water after I finished reading your post. It is a good reminder to be and stay healthy, especially in LA where the heat can sometime be a lot to handle.

  3. Hey Gia, I love this post! I drink at least 80 ounces of water a day, and I always get criticized that I drink too much water at my house. Personally, I don’t drink many juices or sugary drinks, because water makes me feel healthy and ready to take on the day. Let’s all raise a glass of water to our health!
